RECREATION GROUND WITH INSCRIPTION ON A WROUGHT ARCH AT THE ENTRANCE AND A MEMORIAL COLUMN PLACED WITHIN THE GROUND. INSCRIPTION ON BRONZE PLAQUES PLACED ON THREE SIDES OF THE COLUMN. A WREATH WITH CROSS AND SHIELD WITHIN IT IS DEPICTED AT THE TOP OF EACH PLAQUE.

  • Cheshire Ancestor-the journal of Cheshire Family History Society-Volume 41, Issue 2, December 2010- pages 23-35. On page 34 there is a photograph of the 1st memorial. This article relates the story of Harold Platt (31 Aug 1886-) who was called up to the Sherwood Foresters in April 1917 and transferred to the MGC in January 1918. He survived the war.
