- Description
- Reredos behind the High Altar, with painted inscription and names. The subject of the reredos is "The Vision of Victorious Sacrifice". The centre panel depicts our Lord in St. John's apocalyptic vision, clothed in the vestments of eternal priesthood in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks, which spring from the Tree of Life. ..... When finally completed,the reredos will also bear, in canopies niches, portraits of the patron saints of the seven churches of Portsmouth.
