Description
STONE TABLET SET IN WOODEN FRAME WITH INDENTED CORNERS, CARVED CORNICE AND MOULDED BORDERS. INCISED RED AND BLACK LETTERING. MAIN INSCRIPTIONS AND NAMES IN ROMAN CAPS, PLACES OF DEATH IN ITALICS. CARVED, GILDED AND PAINTED WOODEN FRAME. AT TOP OF FRAME IS LION SURMOUNTED BY CROWN, BOTH GILDED, SURROUNDED BY PAINTED GREEN LAUREL WREATH ENTWINED WITH GILDED RIBBON. AROUND THE INNER SIDE OF THE BORDER ARE CARVED AND GILDED ROSES. CARVED, GILDED, AND RED AND GREEN PAINTED ROSES AND LEAVES IN EACH INDENTED CORNER OF THE FRAME.

TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THE/ BLACKMOOR MEN BELONGING TO THE/ REGULAR MILITIA OR TERRITORIAL/ UNITS OF THE COUNTY WHO GAVE/ THEIR LIVES FOR ENGLAND IN THE/ GERMAN WAR/ 1914-1918 / THE HAMPSHIRE REGIMENT/ (Names)/ THE HAMPSHIRE (CARABINEERS) YEOMANRY / (Name)/ THE HAMPSHIRE (FORTRESS) ENGINEERS/ (Name)/ THEY SHALL HUNGER NO MORE NEITHER THIRST/ ANY MORE NEITHER SHALL THE SUN LIGHT ON/ THEM NOR ANY HEAT FOR THE LAMB WHICH/ IS IN THE MIDST OF THE THRONE SHALL FEED/ THEM AND SHALL LEAD THEM UNTO LIVING/ FOUNTAINS OF WATERS AND GOD SHALL/ WIPE AWAY ALL TEARS FROM THEIR EYES".
