- Description
- White marble figure of mourning angel with wings and bared breast seated on the barrel of a cannon, resting her head on her right arm which in turn rests on the staffs of draped Colours set diagonally in front of a palm tree. The whole group rests on a semi-circular plinth on the front of which is carved in low relief a lion with lowered head. The whole on a rectangular base bearing carved inscription.

- TO THE MEMORY OF / CAPTAIN SAMUEL WALKER OF THE 3RD REGT OF GUARDS / AND / CAPTAIN RICHARD BECKETT OF THE COLDSTREAM REGT OF GUARDS / NATIVES OF LEEDS / WHO / HAVING BRAVELY SERVED THEIR COUNTRY TOGETHER / IN EGYPT, GERMANY, DENMARK AND PORTUGAL / FELL IN THE PRIME OF LIFE / AT THE GLORIOUS BATTLE OF TALAVERA, SPAIN / ON THE 28TH JULY 1809 / THEIR FELLOW TOWNSMEN DEDICATED THIS MONUMENT.
