Description
White Sicilian marble tablet with triangular pediment, mounted on a pentagonal black marble backboard. An additional tablet is fixed to the base, bearing the WW2 inscription. The WW1 and WW2 inscriptions are in incised black lettering. (N.B. The memorial is almost identical to the one that hangs in St Mary's Church in Debden, to which our record 22980 refers; the only difference is that the memorial in the Church has an incised cross at top-centre).

2018: When photographed in 2018 the memorial was in good condition, with the inscription fully legible.// 2000: Some of the inscription is now starting to weather, owing to the memorial's external position. Retouching of the lettering is planned. // c1983: The former Congregational Chapel underwent a change of use, so the memorial was relocated to the external wall of the Village Hall.// 1920: The memorial was unveiled in the Congregational Chapel.
