Description
A THREE STEPPED BASE SURMOUNTED BY A SIX SIDED PILLAR, ORB AND SMALL CROSS. ALL THE INSCRIPTION IS FORMED IN BLACK UPPER CASE LETTERING ON THE SIDES OF THE STEPS. THE MEMORIAL IS SITED ON A GRASSED TRIANGULAR ISLAND AT THE INTERSECTION BETWEEN THE THREE ROADS. A SMALL GARDEN HAS ALSO BEEN FORMED AROUND THE BASE OF THE MEMORIAL. MR AND MRS W WILSON OF HEATH COTTAGE, WICKHAMS BISHOP DONATED THE CROSS IN MEMORY OF THE THEIR SON LIEUTENANT CHARLES OSCAR WILSON 5TH ESSEX REGIMENT KILLED BEFORE GAZA 26.3.1917. THEY AGREED TO ALLOW THE NAMES OF OTHER SERVICEMEN KILLED IN THE WAR, TO HAVE THEIR NAMES INCLUDED.
