- The Scotsman 8 November 1920 WESTERKIRK (DUMFRIESSHIRE) General Sir John Spencer Ewart unveiled the memorial for the parish on Saturday afternoon. It is erected near the parish church; is of granite, about 15 feet high; and is surmounted by a cross. Mr Berkley Matthews of Wester Hall presided, and there was a service in the Parish Church, conducted by the Rev. J. Gillies.
