  • Ripley and Heanor News and Ilkeston Division Free Press Friday 11/2/1949 reported: 'DEDICATION & UNVEILING AT CRICH. The dedication and unveiling of the War Memorial Gates at the entrance to St. Mary's Churchyard took place on Sunday afternoon. The gates are wrought iron. with two plaques, on which are the names of the Crich men and women who lost their lives in the 1939 - 45 war. Mrs. F. Wilkins unveiled the gates, which were dedicated by the Vicar (Rev H. E Jones) . An address was given by Lieut.-Col J. H. F. Marsden, O.B.E., of Duffield. Mr. J. J. Woolley (chairman of the Parish Council and of the War Memorial Committee) arranged a parade, which was headed by Crich Silver Prize Band, and consisted of the British Legion, War Memorial Committee, Girl Guides, Brownies, Cubs, N.F.S., and Women's Institute. The procession formed in the Market Place, and paraded to the service. Afterwards a dedication service was held in the church, conducted by the Vicar. The lesson was read by Lieut.- Col.   • Ripley and Heanor News and Ilkeston Division Free Press 10/2/1950 reported: 'A meeting of the War Memorial Gates Committee was held in the Parish Room on Tuesday . It was announced that a sum of £I9 3s. had been raised at a recent whist drive and dance.
