Description

STATUE OF A PRIVATE OF THE REGIMENT IN KHAKI UNIFORM, WITH TOPEE AND PUTTEES, WITH A RIFLE AND FIXED BAYONET AT THE READY. THE FIGURE STANDS ON A MASSIVE BOULDER, BELOW WHICH IS THE PLINTH, WHICH STANDS ON FOUR STEPS, AROUND THE TOP OF THE PLINTH IS A BELT OF BRONZE PANELS, WITH FIGURES AT EACH CORNER REPRESENTING WAR, VICTORY, DEATH AND FAME. ON THE FRONT PANEL IS A DESIGN OF A HARP AND SHAMROCK CROWNED WITH A WREATH OF LAUREL TOGETHER WITH THE MOTTO OF THE REGIMENT, "QUIS SEPARABIT".

IN MEMORY OF THE OFFICERS, NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICERS AND MEN OF THE ROYAL IRISH RIFLES WHO WERE KILLED IN ACTION, OR DIED OF WOUNDS OR DISEASE IN THE SOUTH AFRICAN WAR, 1899-1902, THIS MONUMENT IS DEDICATED. (NAMES ON OTHER THREE PANELS.
