CAPTAIN FRANCIS CROZIER SAILED WITH SIR JOHN FRANKLIN ON THE ATTEMPT TO SEEK THE NORTH-WEST PASSAGE IN 1845. FRANKLIN DIED DURING THE EXPEDITION AND FOLLOWING FRANKLIN'S DEATH CROZIER COMMANDED THE UNSUCCESSFUL RETURN MARCH SOUTH. HE IS THOUGHT TO HAVE DIED IN 1848 WHILST ATTEMPTING THE RETURN JOURNEY, BUT AN EXACT DATE OF DEATH IS NOT KNOWN.
