TOP PART CUT OFF AFTER FIRE DAMAGE HENCE ILLEGIBLE FIRST LINE OF INSCRIPTION. SHIELD IN CENTRE ("TABLET" BELOW) BEARS NAME OF THE FALLEN. SCALLOPED EDGES. SMALL DECORATIVE SLATE PANELS ABOVE CENTRE SHIELD DEPICT (LEFT) FOULED ANCHOR) AND (RIGHT) RIFLE.
