Description
Two black crossed anchors with a chain on a circular patch of pebbles let into the surrounding grass and in front a grey metal plaque with the commemoration in white lettering .
Inscription
HAMBLE RIVER FORESHORE/ THIS AREA WAS PURCHASED BY HAMBLE PARISH COUNCIL IN 1939 AND IN 1944./ U.S. TROOPS BUILT A DOCK FOR LANDING CRAFT FOR THE/ D-DAY LIBERATION OF EUROPE./ IN THE 1960'S, 70'S AND 80'S THE PARISH COUNCIL RECLAIMED RIVERSIDE REED BEDS/, ENLARGED THE DINGHY PARK AND CONVERTED THE AMERICAN DOCK TO A CAR PARK./ THE NEW QUAY AND CARPARK WERE BUILT IN 1989 BY EASTLEIGH BOROUGH COUNCIL IN /CONJUNCTION WITH HAMBLE PARISH COUNCIL AND HAMPSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL./ THE ANCHORS AND PLAQUE COMMEMORATING THE FORESHORE IMPROVEMENT SCHEME/ WERE DONATED AND INSTALLED BY THE BP OIL TERMINAL AT HAMBLE./
