Description
Two-stepped octagonal base surmounted by an octagonal multi-sectioned pedestal, circular upper course with sundial. First stepped area, infilled with gravel, solid second step with rounded edges. Incised year inscriptions on centre section of pedestal, further incised inscription circumnavigating upper circular course. Engraved inscription on face of sundial.

  • Leicester Evening Mail - Monday 25 April 1949 COSBY MEMORIAL GARDEN DEDICATED A Garden of Remembrance In Cosby Parish Churchyard to the memory of 58 men who fell In the two wars was dedicated yeeterday. . A stone sundial stands in the centre of the garden, with the inscription "We will remember them," and radiating from the base are small plots of flowers. All village associations were represented at the service including the men's and women's branches of the British Legion with standards, Girl Guides and Toc H The singing was led ty the combined choirs of the three churches The "Last Post" and " Reveille " were sounded by buglers from HMS Gamecock. An address was given bv the Rev. J. F. Humphrey, Methodist superintendent, and the dedication was performed by the Rev. J. A. Sime, Vicar. The Rev. J. T. Meek lod the prayers, and Capt. J. P. Labouchere-Sperling led the British Legion Act of Homage.
