History
Works closed 1989. Purchaser of site donated memorial and the plot on which it stands to the town. 2010: Horwich Town Council has arranged for the names and rank of the fallen from the Great War to be re-inked as fading had occurred due to weathering. Access to all four sides of the pillar has now been restored. War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £2437. June 2011: It is proposed to remove conservation area status from the Locomotive Works site, with a view to extensive redevelopment.
