- Description
- A Portland stone column which rises from curved plinth stones and is surmounted by a cast bronze winged figure of Victory. The figure holds a laurel wreath and stands upon a globe surrounded by a coiled serpent. Around the top of the stone column are cast bronze wreaths on two sides and cast bronze swags on the other two sides. The names of the fallen of WW1 are listed on two cast bronze plaques on the curved supports for the column, with the years of the conflict incised on the stone above. The names of the WW2 fallen are on a cast bronze plaque on the rear of the column, with the Dedication incised on the stone above. The WW1 Dedication is incised on the stone panel on the front of the column. Addendum plaques are situated beneath their respective conflicts, and the 1974 plaque is on the step edge beneath the Southern WW1 Names plaque. The memorial stands at the centre of a small garden at the Western end of the churchyard, with paved and lawned areas surrounded by hedging to the sides and a gated stone wall at the Higher Lane entrance.
