- Penrith Observer - Tuesday 16 December 1919 The Rev. Canon Stephenson, Vicar, and the churchwardens of Addingham applied for power to remove from the north wall to the south wall of the parish church of Addingham the tablet to the memory of Thomas Bird, Glassonby, and to place on the north wall a marble tablet bearing the inscription: "Erected in memory of the men of this parish who gave their lives in the Great War, 1914-1918.' Greater love hath no man than this.' "
