STONE OBELISK SURMOUNTING STONE PLINTH. PLINTH BEARS INSCRIPTION AND NAMES IN INCISED LETTERING. THREE-STEPPED STONE BASE. SWORD IN RELIEF ON SHAFT OF OBELISK. LAUREL WREATH SURROUNDS TOP OF OBELISK.

TO THE/ SACRED MEMORY OF/ THE MEN OF LOW MOOR/ WHO SERVED/ THEIR KING AND COUNTRY/ AND LOST THEIR LIVES/ IN THE EUROPEAN WAR/ 1914-1918/ THIS IS A MEMORIAL OF OUR GRATITUDE/ AND TO THEIR HONOUR/ THEY SHALL GROW NOT OLD/ AS WE WHO ARE LEFT GROW OLD/ AGE SHALL NOT WEARY THEM/ NOR THE YEARS CONDEMN/ AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN/ AND IN THE MORNING/ WE WILL REMEMBER THEM/ THIS MONUMENT WAS ERECTED BY PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION/ AND WAS UNVEILED NOVEMBER 10TH 1928/ (NAMES) REMEMBER ALSO THOSE WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1939-1945/ (NAMES)
