- Description
- Four sided pillar standing upon two broad limstone steps with a base, all standing within a garden surrounded by iron railings. The 6 o'clock face at the base has lettering in gold. At the four angles above the base are square limestone pilasters finished with capitals of bronze. Decoration with limestone frieze with laurel wreaths. Set on each side is a white marble panel on which the inscription is in leaded letters. Above the capitals rises a moulded fascia, a frieze, and a dentel cornice in limestone. The town crest, ship and castle is on the front face. Marble plaque at base has been added for Second World War names.
