- History
- In 2017 a War Memorials Trust grant of £13,630 was awarded through War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme towards gentle cleaning to improve the legibility of the inscription, realignment of the dislodged lower step, lime mortar pointing, repairs and pointing to steps and low retaining wall and relaying of the crazy paved area around the memorial and repointing it all. The metal posts around the memorial were also protected with SmartWater as one of the conditions of the grant; November 1999-The memorial was vandalised: it had graffiti daubed on the walls, slabs of stone removed from the steps and plants pulled up from the Garden of Remembrance.
- Costs
Comments: £1,400 was raised but £500 was spent on the monument and the remainder went to assist the dependents of the fallen and to help disabled ex-servicemen returning from war.

- War Memorials Trust Bulletin 79-November 2018- has a 1920's image showing that it was originally surrounded by a picket fence, part of which was on a low stone wall, and another image on page 3, after restoration, so later than the image attached to this report.
