- Description
- Tapered Stone Obelisk on a tapered stone pedestal and base. The dedication and names plaques are on the pedestal. Covers the villages of Greenfield, Delph, Denshaw, Diggle, Dobcross, Grasscroft and Uppermill. The Architect- Gilbert Burdett Howcroft of Greenfield, Saddleworth, served with 7th Duke of Wellingtons and was awarded the Military Medal. His sketches are in the Howcroft collection at Saddleworth Museum. Companion Memorial to one to all Saddleworth men situated in the valley at Uppermill (WMR 97330).
