- Description
- An Obelisk standing within a paved garden with planting around edges. Garden is on large traffic island at road junction and is surrounded by metal railings and gates. The obelisk is a rough hewn grey stone column with peon top atop stone square with recess to each side which then stands on 2-tier inward stepped base. The whole stands on 4-tier inward stepped smooth stone foundation. Front recess has dedication in black lettering and both war dates beneath in gold, rear face has WW2 names in black divided centrally by prayer in gold. Remaining 2 faces have WW1 names divided between the faces an in black lettering although medal holders are separated and are at head of recesses. Single granite tablets have been added below all four faces, additional names from both world wars have been added to the tablets beneath Faces 2 and 4.
