- Description
- Memorial Hall with 2 entrance doors separated by 8 columns. The square vestibule inside has an inner oak lobby with leather covered doors leading into the auditorium at the back of the seats. On the wall below the windows at the rear of the auditorium are the Ancaster stone tablets of WW1 names with initials in red and the rest in grey colouring. On the walls on either side of the door of a wing off the auditorium are the marble tablets of WW2 names , and tablets commemorating those who died in later conflicts and those Old Marlburians awarded the VC , GC and Albert Medal . There is a wooden cabinet with the College arms containing eight drawers probably each containing a book with the names of the fallen of WW2 and WW2

Comments: IT WAS ORIGINALLY PLANNED IN 1919, WITH A CAPACITY OF 1256 SEATS. PLANS WERE ALTERED TWICE. FIRSTLY TO COPE WITH WATER RISING FROM THE R. KENNET (THE BUILDING OR FOUNDATIONS SUNK) AND SECONDLY DUE TO SHORTAGE OF FUNDS. INCLUDED IN THE MEMORIAL IS THE PAVED FORECOURT AND FLIGHT OF STEPS TO THE COLLEGE CHAPEL.
