  • Essex Newsman Saturday 25/9/1920 reported: 'War Memorial. —On Sunday the Rev. John Evans, formerly vicar of Dunmow, unveiled a marble tablet at the Mission Hall, Philpot End, to the memory of six men who fell in the war. The Rev. W. J. House, vicar of Dunmow, assisted in the service, which was well attended. The memorial cost £20, and before the service £4 was needed to make that sum up.
