Description
Five-tiered round archway structure of marble. Bronze sculpture in centre of arch of urn with eternal flame. Arch stands on marble plinth which bears inscription in carved lettering and names on bronze plaques; rough-hewn stone base.

2013: memorial deep cleaned and restored with financial contribution from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the local Welcom Form and Thurrock Council. New granite plaques were made to replace the original bronze ones with the addition of 12 names to the existing 69 on the memorial, making 81 names. The inscription was repainted and the steps and paving around the Memorial have also been replaced. The work was completed on Friday 8 November 2013 in time for the Remembrance Day service. 2008: The bronze flame was stolen circa January.
