- History
- The memorial replaced one that was in the former premises of the Leeds Grammar School which could not be moved when the former location was closed. The Grammar School moved out of a Leeds City Centre site to the current site, north of the city centre, in September 1999. The original memorial consisted of a swimming bath with a shrine attached. The names of the fallen from WW1 were recorded on 3 stone tablets. It was opened by Viscount Lascelles of Harewood and dedicated by the Bishop of Ripon on 21/5/1928. WMR 22078.
