- UNDECORATED RECTANGULAR INSCRIPTION TABLET BENEATH FOUR STAGE MOULDING CAPPED BY WIDER CORNICE. SHALLOW TRIANGULAR PEDIMENT WITH OPEN BIBLE PLACED LEANING BACK AT AN ANGLE. ABOVE THE UPPER EDGE OF THE BIBLE IS A LARGE CLASSICAL URN TROPHY FORMING BACKGROUND TO THE MEMORIAL, INCLUDING A DAPED STANDARD, STAFF, CANNON AND CONGREVE ROCKET.

- THE MEMORIAL/ OF PRIVATE WORTH AND MILITARY GLORY/ SACRED TO/ CAPTAIN RICHARD BOGUE/ OF THE ROYAL HORSE ARTILLERY;/ WHO FELL BY A RIFLE SHOT, IN THE BATTLE OF LEIPSIC (SIC)/ ON THE 18TH OCTOBER 1813/ WHILE COMMANDING THE BRITISH ROCKET BRIGADE IN THE GLORIOUS VICTORY OF THAT MEMORABLE DAY./ HE HAD A MOMENT BEFORE RECEIVED THE THANKS OF THE PRINCE, AND ALLIED GENERALS, UNDER WHOM HE SERVED/ FOR COMPELLING THE SURRENDER OF FIVE FRENCH BATTALIONS AT PAUNSDORF/ TO HIS OWN SMALL FORCE, NOT EXCEEDING TWO HUNDRED MEN./ HIS REMAINS WERE INTERRED AT TAUCHA, NEAR LEIPSIC, IN THE 31ST YEAR OF HIS AGE./ AS AN OFFICER, HE EMINENTLY COMBINED PROFESSIONAL SCIENCE WITH THE MOST ARDENT VALOUR./ BY HIS INDEFATIGABLE ATTENTION, THAT FORMIDABLE WEAPON THE CONGREVE ROCKET WAS APPLIED WITH A PRECISION AND SUCCESS/ PROPORTIONATE TO ITS IMPORTANCE AS AN INVENTION OF DESTRUCTIVE WARFARE./ AS A HUSBAND, A FATHER AND A FRIEND,/ THE PRACTICE OF EVERY DOMESTIC VIRTUE, RESULTING ALIKE FROM A RECTITUDE AND CONSCIOUS DUTY, RECEIVED A BRIGHTER LUSTRE FROM A FERVENT THOUGH RATIONAL PIETY./ HE WAS THE YOUNGEST SON OF THE LATE DR BOGUE OF FAREHAM IN THIS COUNTY, AND MARRIED MARY ISABELLA/ DAUGHTER OF JOHNHANSON ESQR. OF GREAT BROMLEY HALL, AND WOODFORD IN ESSEX, WHO AS A SMALL/ TRIBUTE TO THE MEMORY OF THE BEST OF HUSBANDS, AND IN TESTIMONY OF HER AFFECTION AND REGRET/ HAS CAUSED THIS TABLET TO BE INSCRIBED TO HIS RESPECTED NAME
