Description
A dedicated area surrounded by a low stone wall , within which are shrubs and gravel , and in the centre a pathway leading to a circle , both of which are paved , where is located the memorial column . This consists of a hexagonal sandstone column , slightly tapering towards the top , set on a square sandstone block on which is carved in relief a christogram "IHS" .The block rests on a two stepped grey stone base set into the front face of which is a black metal plaque with the WW2 dedication and names incised and coloured white , .Below this set against the base is a copper plaque with the WW1 dedication and names incised but not coloured ,The column is surmounted by a grey stone top , intricately carved in a neo gothic style with the crucified Christ and two supporting figures . Resting on the sides of the base are four free standing stone cubes with additional dedications and individual names on the front and provision for flower pots at the top . To the left of the column and within the enclosed area is a white flagpole

WW1 PLAQUE: TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN GRATEFUL MEMORY/ OF THE MEN OF GOSBERTON WHO GAVE THEIR /LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918.
