Description
Original memorial: pedestal with inscription and low relief on it surmounted by a statue of Nelson who stands in a casual pose leaning against an out-of-scale portrayal of his flagship. Around the whole memorial are railings linked by twisted cable. At each corner is an upturned cannon supporting a cluster of pikes and a ship's lantern. Current memorial: statue surmounts a plain pedestal and lamps were omitted Relief shows town of Birmingham
