- History
- The Salford Corporation Employees WW1 Roll of Honour was erected in the Town Hall. (Salford became a city in 1926. In 1972 the County Borough was abolished, and subsequently became part of City of Salford Local Authority in 1974). The memorial remained within the building, in the entrance foyer of the Magistrates Court. Salford Town Hall continued to be used as a court house until the last two court rooms closed in December 2011. The premises was later sold and redeveloped; the secure private building now comprises apartments, with communal areas, in one of which the memorial hangs (near the Reception desk). On 31/1/1952 the premises was Grade II Listed, under List Entry Number 1386076; the memorial was not specifically mentioned in that listing.
