Description
OCTAGONAL STONE BASE WITH DATE IN ROMAN LETTERS SURMOUNTED BY A SQUARE PLINTH WITH INSCRIPTION INCISED ON METAL PLAQUES. A TALL SLENDER COLUMN OF STONE CARVED TOP AND BOTTOM AND SURMOUNTED BY A CRUSADER CROSS IS ABOVE THIS. THE WHOLE IS ENCLOSED BY A SIMPLE FENCE OF WOODEN SUPPORTS AND IRON CHAINS.

FRONT: TO THE/ GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN/ HONOURED MEMORY/ OF THE LOYALTY/ AND DEVOTION/ OF THE MEN/ OF THIS PARISH/ WHO GAVE THEIR/ LIVES IN THE/ CAUSE OF JUSTICE/ AND FREEDOM/ DURING THE/ GREAT WAR/ 1914 - 1918/ 1939 - 1945/ (NAMES) BACK: LET THOSE WHO COME/ AFTER SEE TO IT/ THAT THEIR NAME/ BE NOT FORGOTTEN./ "GREATER LOVE HATH/ NO MAN THAN THIS,/ THAT A MAN LAY/ DOWN HIS LIFE/ FOR HIS FRIENDS."
