- 1950s: memorial dismantled to make way for redevelopment of hospital entrance road 1996: ONLY THE BASE OF THE MEMORIAL REMAINS 2005: MEMORIAL BASE EXAMINED BY WAR MEMORIALS TRUST AND FOUND TO BE VERY DIRTY MARBLE. Cross and shaft later replaced.
