- Description
- A large, nowy-headed mahogany board measuring 5 feet high and 6 feet wide, with gilt painted inscriptions. The memorial is unusual, as it lists both those who made the supreme sacrifice, numbering 26, and those who served and survived the war, numbering 519. The names are listed in 6 panels. Those who were killed were mainly men who died on the Somme on the first day of battle on 1st July 1916, and who served in the Queen’s Westminster Rifles.

- Aug 2019: Memorial returned to the site where the Shoolbred & Co. department store was situated on the Tottenham Court Road in London. 2011: Harrods plans to relocate the memorial with the assistance of War Memorials Trust. c1970s: House of James Shoolbred building demolished. 1931: Harrods bought House of James Shoolbred store with all contents on Tottenham Court Road and closed the store.
