- Description
- Rectangular brass plaque (positioned vertically) mounted onto a black stone backboard. Incised inscription in black lettering. At the top centre of the plaque there is depicted an incised and coloured coat of arms, which is a phoenix above a helmet and a shield decorated with three diamonds in the top left quarter and another three in the bottom right, and a phoenix in the bottom left and another in the top right. Scrolling foliate border with fleur-de-lys at each corner is etched on the plaque.

FELIX DAVID MONTAGUE/ OF THE 2ND LINCOLN REGIMENT (10TH FOOT)/ WHO WAS BORN AT CREDITON/ APRIL 29TH 1894/ AND FELL GLORIOUSLY AT/ NEUVE CHAPELLE/ ON THE MORNING OF MARCH 10TH 1915./ "MY HEART IS TOWARD THOSE THAT OFFERED/ THEMSELVES WILLINGLY AMONG THE PEOPLE/ THAT JEOPARDED THEIR LIVES UNTO THE/ DEATH IN THE HIGH PLACES OF THE FIELD."
