What is the new membership scheme?

The new scheme will be available at all sites, and to purchase online from 30 November 2017. There are two membership packages and five types to choose from detailed below.

IWM Premium Membership

All the benefits of IWM Membership plus:

  • Free access to paid exhibitions at IWM London and IWM North
  • 15% discount in IWM Shops and cafes at our branches
  • Exclusive discounts and priority access to selected IWM events (including 20% discount on air show tickets and access to the air show members’ enclosure)
  • Premium Membership offers

Will there be a concession price for membership?

To allow us to keep the price competitive there will not be a concession prices for the new membership scheme. The membership scheme will provide members with enhanced benefits across all Imperial War Museums sites, and will continue to provide vital funding to IWM. Even without concession rates IWM Membership represents a saving for anyone visiting more than one charging branch or visiting a single charging branch more than once in a year.


Will there be a junior membership available?

No, the new scheme will only have adult and family options. If you are unsure which is the best fit for you please do ask a member of staff either at one of our branches or by email or phone for advice (see contact details).


What if I have a different family size to the ones included in the membership scheme?

Our Family Membership groups reflect our admission ticket types. Although we do appreciate that this does not yet accommodate all family groups our staff are happy to advise on the most cost effective option for your family at this time. In some instances it will be most cost effective to buy a family membership that exceeds the number in your party. In which case we advise you simply register the additional child members as guests and use these cards to bring a friend.


Can I pay online for the new membership?

Yes, membership will be available to purchase online from 30 November via our website.


Will I be able to set up a Direct Debit?

Eventually, we’ll be looking to update the ways in which you can pay for your membership including Direct Debit. Although this won’t be available for when we launch the scheme we will be updating members as and when these developments are made available.


Will the promotional discount (12 for 10) still be available post launch?

The discount code will be sent on 30 November 2017 to all those who have pre-registered their interest. You must be registered by 27 November to receive this offer. You will then have until the end of January 2018 to redeem your discount.


Can I purchase a gift membership?

Yes, gift membership will be available when the new scheme launches to purchase online and at IWM shops.


Can I get a refund on my admission ticket if I purchase membership?

Unfortunately we aren’t able to refund admission tickets once they’ve been used. However if you change your mind about membership and purchase it at the end of your visit you’ll be given complimentary tickets equivalent to your original admission which can be gifted to friends and family or used to bring along guests on your next visit.


Can I bring along a carer if I am registered disabled?

Yes. When you apply for membership please register your requirements with the admissions staff or with the membership team at any time ( so that your needs can be accommodated when you visit.
