Americans at Duxford

Somewhere in England: Portraits of Americans in Britain 1942-45

Sat 13 April 2013 – Tue 31 December 2013

This temporary photographic exhibition can be seen in the Mezzanine gallery in AirSpace until December 2013.

These stunning photographs, some of which have never been seen in public before, are part of the Roger Freeman collection of almost 15,000 photographs of the US Army Air Forces during the Second World War, which has recently been acquired by IWM.

In the exhibition, we show the huge range of different jobs that formed part of the United States Army Air Force – it certainly wasn’t just pilots and ground crew.  We also show the airmen off duty and how they embraced life in Great Britain.

Somewhere in England is included in standard admission to IWM Duxford.  As usual, visitors aged 15 or under enjoy free admission to the museum.
