First World War - War in the Air

D-Day 70th Anniversary

Spitfires, Merlins and Motors

Saturday 26 July 2014

Spitfires, Merlins and Motors celebrates the legendary Supermarine Spitfire, the unmistakable Merlin engine and the golden age of motoring.

See a variety of Spitfires up close on the ground and then watch them soar as they take to the air to perform short flying displays. You’ll also be able to see the intricate details of the museum’s Merlin engines and wander around our display of classic and contemporary cars.

Costumed living history interpreters will be bringing the wartime Royal Air Force to life with authentic 1940s displays.

Join us for a day of legendary aircraft, wartime nostalgia and magnificent motors.

If you would like to book a designated area for your car club, please visit our Car and Motorbike Club Visits page for more information. Individual owners of pre-1980 classic vehicles are invited to participate - if you arrive in a classic vehicle you can benefit from a reduced admission fee of £10.
