Featuring documentaries, dramas and animations - IWM Short Film Festival was a showcase of challenging, inspiring and experimental films inspired by IWM’s collections. Exploring the causes, course and consequences of conflict and its impact on people’s lives, the festival accepted submissions from across the globe.
Launched in 2001 as a student competition, the calibre of submissions increased year on year. In 2007 the festival expanded to include the work of amateur filmmakers, and again in 2014 allowing professional filmmakers to submit for the first time. The festival grew to include not only screenings but also an exciting programme of innovative events exploring the festival themes.
IWM Short Film Festival developed partnerships with October Films, R3Store Studios Ltd, Kings College London, London Southbank University and R3el.com who supported the Festival through prize sponsorship and student placements.
