Volunteering with IWM London, Churchill War Rooms and HMS Belfast
Our volunteers donate time in various roles across the London Branches: in conservation and collections support, events support, object handling, membership advocacy, welcome, and administrative support. They also serve as remote field workers. The volunteer programme is open to anyone aged 18 years and above, although there are now a number of weekend volunteering roles within our programme, there are currently no regular evening roles available.

As a number of our active teams are currently full our next round of recruitment selection is scheduled for Autumn 2017. To register your place at a selection session please download an application and return the completed form by email to the Volunteer Programme Office at VolunteerLondon@iwm.org.uk
The War Memorials Register based at IWM London are looking for volunteers who are confident using computers, spreadsheets and databases who can create and update memorial records in the online database.
The Membership Team are looking for help to increase the number of new IWM Members joining on site at IWM London and to assist existing Members to renew their membership. New members will help increase income for Imperial War Museums Membership scheme.
Visitor Experience Volunteer, Churchill War Rooms
The Imperial War Museums are looking to expand our team of long term volunteers to help with our welcome at the Churchill War Rooms. Visitor Support Volunteers provide an extra level of service to our visitors providing additional way-finding and historical information about this extraordinary site.
An opportunity to get involved with a practical hands-on conservation role on HMS Belfast, Britain's last big gun armoured warship from the Second World War and Cold War period. Join the Award Winning Warship Conservation Team on HMS Belfast in the Pool of London and help us keep our ship in shape. Although prior engineering and subject knowledge experience can be useful it is not essential, but you must be willing to carry out a physical role on a ship.

Volunteering with us gives you the opportunity to discover more about our London Branches, make friends, see behind the scenes, and develop your skills. We ask for a long term commitment of one visit a month for a year and in return we offer:
- Free entry in to all 5 Branches of the IWM (not including air shows at our IWM Duxford branch)
- Discount in our shops and cafes
- Two organised volunteer visits per year
- Annual volunteer recognition event
- Weekly e-newsletter and bi-annual magazine
- After 6 months service long term volunteers are eligible to apply for internally advertised positions
- Reimbursement of travel expenses up to £10 per day (Short Term Student Placements up to 2 visits per week and UK bank accounts only)
Thank you for this latest newsletter. I always find them very interesting as they are packed with information across the board. Thanks also for organising the volunteers day at the Royal Naval College, as you reported with pics in last week's edition. It was a smashing tour - I met some new people over my lovely lunch. The maritime museum was fascinating as was their shop where I bought a couple of Christmas presents for my great-nephews.
