CHEMICAL WARFARE IN THE TWENTIETH CENTURYThe Second World War: The civilian respirator. The threat of aerial bombardment and widespread use of gas was perceived particularly in Britain and was evidenced by the massive issue of gas masks to civilians at the time of the Munich crisis of 1938.
