Recollections of arrest and deportation from Germany, 1938-1939: reasons for arrest by Gestapo, 9/1938; harassment by German officials on Dutch border; 4/1939. Recollections of period as refugee in GB, 1939-1940: guaranteed job as factory worker in Edgware; reaction to declaration of Second World War, 9/1939; parent's failure to get out of Germany. Recollections of period of internment in GB, 1940: attitude of British authorities; removal to Kempton Park racecourse, summer 1940; appearance before tribunal and classification as 'B'; conditions in Isle of Man. Aspects of voyage from GB to Australia aboard Dunera, 1940: embarking at Liverpool; overcrowding on board; theft of internees property.
