Recollections of operations as asdic operator aboard Motor Launch 457 during 'Operation Chariot' St Nazaire Raid, 3/1942: background to joining launch; character of motor launch; proposed role for launch during raid; character of landing at Old Mole under grenade attack; setting fire to motor launch by German gunfire; period on raft in River Loire estuary; rescue by Germans; treatment of wounded POWs. REEL 2 Continues: trial voyage on launch with commandos aboard prior to raid; crossing Channel from GB to St Nazaire; recapitulation of raid.
