Recollections of operations aboard HMS Hood, 1939-1941: posting to ship, 1939; reaction to declaration of Second World War, 9/1939; degree of knowledge of German pocket battleships; facilities aboard ship; under German air attack whilst escorting submarine Spearfish, 9/1939; character of convoy work; in action against French fleet at Oran, 7/1940; blockade actions against Brest. Recollections of sinking of HMS Hood during pursuit of Bismarck in North Atlantic, 5/1941: character of pursuit.
