History note

Delivered to RAF 29 August 1947. At 9 MU Cosford till June 1949 when it was shipped to Hong Kong on HMS Ocean, departing Renfrew docks 30 June. Stored Seletar from August 1949 to 31 October 1950 when taken on strength of 80 Squadron RAF at Kai Tek. December 1950 suffers category 4 damage in accident. Back with 80 Squadron from 31 May 1951. 31 May 1952 - transferred to the Hong Kong Auxiliary Air Force. 15 Jan 1955 - it had its last official sortie for HKAAF. Remained in use with HKAAF until 21 April 1955, when it flew for the last time in the Queens Birthday Parade Flypast over Hong Kong. 30 Sept 1955 - Struck off Charge. 19 Sept 1968 - formally handed over to HKAAF was displayed on a number of ceremonial occasions before being refurbished in 1983 by HKAAF & local enthusiasts. It went on permanent display for the next 5 years outside the RHKAAF headquarters building at Kai Tak Internationl Airport.
