Physical description

Cap Blue-topped officer's peaked service dress cap with leather peak and patent leather adjustable chinstrap. Fitted to the cap on a removable black mohair band is an officer's quality cap badge, being a white metal anchor within a double-spray of gold wire embroidered laurel leaves beneath a padded Crown, worked in gold wire on maroon velvet. The ridge to the top front of the cap shows evidence of wear, but not unsightly. Inside, the cap has a brown leather sweatband and is named to the underside.

By hand, in blue ink to the underside of the leather sweatband.

S.J. BUCKLEY
