See History of the Royal Munster Fusiliers Vol 2 This placard, together with another(FEQ 172) referring to the fall of Kut, was placed on the German trench parapets opposite the 8th (Service) Battalion Royal Munster Fusiliers at Hulluch. At 1am on 10th May 1916 a patrol led by Lt.F J Biggane of the battalion cut the German wire and captured both placards. The placards were presented to king George V on 25th July 1916 by Lt.Col Williamson O/C 8th Munsters. Polaroid photo in signs card index
