Object description

image: 'Dazzle' painted merchant ships in dock. The ship in the foreground is painted in two different types of camouflage. The section closest to the viewer was used in the early years of the war; while the stripe design came in later. Both the other ship moored on the far side, and another in the background are painted in this later design. There are a few figures visible on board the deck of the central ship, and equipment scattered along the quayside, possibly used for painting the exterior.
