Object description

image: A triptych depicting a religious service at a memorial. The memorial itself, a large wooden cross on a stone plinth, is in the centre foreground. The vicar conducting the service and three officers, one from each of the British armed forces, stand immediately around the memorial and a drum is placed directly in front of it. A British soldier holding a Union Jack on a flagpole stands directly behind it. A square of British soldiers surrounds the memorial, with lines of Royal Navy sailors to the left and RAF personnel to the right. There is a church spire in both the left and right sections of the piece. Officers of all the British armed forces stand in the foreground to the left and right.
