During the First World War, the Army Service Corps operated the transport systems that delivered ammunition, food and equipment to the Front Line. The ASC used motor vehicles, the railways and waterways as part of a complex supply line linking Britain to the various Fronts. In addition to the over 300,000 men of the ASC, thousands of Indian, Egyptian, Chinese and other Imperial subjects worked under the ASC's command.
