Photograph album and loose prints from the collection of Major General Lewis Owen Lyne CB DSO, relating to his service with the British Army, particularly with the Lancashire Fusiliers and as Military Governor of Berlin in 1945. Album with 198 photos assembled while serving with the 1st Battalion The Lancashire Regiment in China, 1937-1938. Images include: Trooping the Colour on Coronation Day and related celebrations; 'A' Company on march and training in the field; Japanese conduct of the North China Incident in Tientsin (Tianjin) and its aftermath, including refugees crossing into the British concession in China. Scenes highlighting the increased tensions in the region during the pre-war period. 26 loose prints of Major General Lyne and others, including post-war conferences at Camberley, August 12th-17th 1946; Chief of the Imperial General Staff Conference, May 1948; troop inspections. 18 loose prints of Lyne's official residence while Military Governor of Berlin, from July to August 1945. Interior views of the house, with period decor; and garden.
