A first Allied patrol to reach ruins of the Monte Cassino monastery, 18 May 1944. Troops of the 1st Squadron of the 12 Podolski Lancers Regiment (3rd Carpathian Rifles Division, 2nd Polish Corps) in the captured monastery.
